The Hospital Pharmacy supports healthcare professionals in the safe use of medicines and medical devices, provides information in line with national, regional and hospital provisions, in support of the safety of care. It prepares customised galenic preparations, especially for paediatric patients. It informs and supports patients in the hospital-territory continuity. Furthermore, it deals with the quality system of radiopharmaceutical preparation best practices in nuclear medicine.
It supports and promotes research.
The hospital pharmacy is structured in specialist areas:
- drugs and medical devices area.
The sector deals with various activities: drug and device monitoring; information and documentation; clinical galenics; reporting and monitoring of expenditure; procurement and logistics.
- clinical risk area – Hospital Pharmacy.
This sector supports the implementation of all ministerial recommendations supporting the correct and safe use of medicines and medical devices.
- quality system area for preparation best practices of radiopharmaceuticals in nuclear medicine.
The sector supports the Nuclear Medicine Unit with the management of the quality system, as required by the official Italian Pharmacopoeia.
- clinical trial and innovation area.
The sector supports independent research and for-profit clinical trials, in the field of technological innovation it participates in HTN evaluation processes.
