Anaesthetics and Intensive Care Unit

The activity of the Anaesthetics and Intensive Care Department of the San Cataldo Hospital in Pisa is divided into different sectors:

• assistance for all clinical needs of patients admitted to the Institute’s Cardiology and Respiratory Medicine departments, with 24-hour coverage, according to the rules governing the Service;
• with regard to the Hemodynamics Department, the Service provides assistance for all Interventional Cardiology procedures, such as coronary angiography, angioplasty, percutaneous valvuloplasty, both elective and urgent;
• In the same Department, care is also provided for the Electrophysiology Service, and in particular for patients undergoing ablation procedures for various heart rhythm disorders;
• assistance for the Diagnostic Imaging Departments (MRI, CT) and for the procedures related to the Nuclear Medicine Unit, also with regard to sedation during the acquisition of images.
